Today, adidas reveals the reimagined SUPERNOVA franchise with the first of three new silhouettes – SUPERNOVA RISE. Launching in a women’s and men’s specific last, the new running shoe is designed to deliver maximum comfort and help everyday runners be distraction-free.
Throughout the development process, the Product and Design teams tapped into research conducted by adidas[1] with 1,300 female runners, which revealed comfort as one of the most important criteria for everyday runners when selecting a running shoe.

Today, we are revealing the latest evolution of adizero footwear built for speed on the road and the track. Led by the next iteration of our record-breaking elite performance shoe, the ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 2, and the all-new ADIZERO BOSTON 10, ADIZERO PRIME X and AVANTI Track Spike.
A team of our leading designers and product developers worked closely with the adidas running community and testers to create the new ULTRABOOST 21 silhouette, which reimagines the original ULTRABOOST to deliver a bold new design combined with the latest in performance technology.
The core development in ULTRABOOST 21 is the redesign of the shoe’s torsion system. The new adidas LEP (‘Linear Energy Push’) provides a 15% increase in forefoot bending stiffness for a more responsive stride. This works alongside our proprietary midsole BOOST technology, which packs in 6% more BOOST through an exaggerated heel curve, providing runners with incredible energy return and comfort in every step.

In April 2019, 200 creators around the world were involved in the first closed trial process, taking possession of Gen 1 UltraBOOST DNA LOOP running shoes, wearing and then returning them to be reborn as well as providing valuable feedback on the design and process.
In November 2019 the first Gen 2 UltraBOOST DNA LOOP running shoes were produced and included recycled TPU from the Gen 1 pairs. Again, the 200 creators were asked to put the shoe through its paces to provide feedback that would help get adidas ready to take the revolutionary concept to a wider audience.
Now, for the first time we are enabling more people around the world during Creators Club Week digital festival to get their hands on the revolutionary UltraBOOST DNA LOOP running shoe for the next phase.
1,500 Creators Club Members will be given the shoes for free and become part of a sustainability micro community, co-creating with us in a true open source fashion to further shape and fine tune
the experience. The 21-week program will be driven by the adidas app with the communities actions and feedback helping futureproof the engagement model . By signing up for the raffle they will be making a commitment to return the shoes to be grinded, shredded and turned into something new.

UltraBOOST DNA LOOP uses this transformative approach to designing performance shoes that are ‘Made to be Remade’ from the outset, by using one material type and no glue. Each component is made from 100% reusable TPU – it’s spun to yarn, knitted, molded and clean-fused to a BOOST midsole.
This means that, once UltraBOOST DNA LOOP come to the end of their first life and are returned to us, they are washed, ground to pellets and melted into material for components for a new pair of shoes, with less waste. Today the latest adizero adios Pro, reveals in a colour refresh for the world’s fastest, as they prepare to return to competition. The bold pink and blue “Dream Mile” colourway is the first update since the silhouette’s limited release in June – which sold out in 15 minutes – and will now be available widely from 14th September.
The shoe is born from athlete insights, generated from multi-continent in-camp testing. Elite athletes – including Kenyan long-distance runners Joyciline Jepkosgei and Rhonex Kipruto – gave iterative feedback to develop the physical prototypes, as well as the emotional context that inspired the colour story of this latest release.
The “Dream Mile” concept is built around the insight that athletes require two “selves” or approaches to training, to succeed in their fastest ever miles.
With the insight that nothing is impossible when you combine the very best in performance technologies, with the positive and creative energy that athletes have within themselves – the colour and design team researched various shades to help express this without words.
Represented by a vibrant pink hue, is the passionate, powerful and striving ‘self’, needed to push the body and mind forward against the clock. Meanwhile the calmer, more resilient ‘self’ that helps in maintaining focus is signified by the muted blue tones. A decade later, the adizero adios Pro was created by a dedicated team with one goal in mind – work with world-class athletes to develop our fastest running shoe. Training across three continents, elite athletes1 – including Joyciline Jepkosgei and Rhonex Kipruto – gave iterative feedback to develop prototypes and challenge everything previously understood about bending stiffness, energy return, mass reduction and design geometry.
The collaborative process directly led to the shoe’s design breakthrough, EnergyRods.
EnergyRods consist of five tuned carbon-infused rods, which mimic the metatarsal bones of the foot, allowing runners to maintain their speed for longer, optimizing running economy and creating less physical impact on the body.
The midsole also includes two layers of LightstrikePRO, our lightest and most responsive foam material to-date, providing maximum cushioning and more energy storage. Helping runners maintain speed throughout long distance races, where every second counts. Topped off by a nylon and carbon fibre heel plate, which – combined with the EnergyRods – offers stability for the ankle joint, and correct bending behaviour of the runner’s foot for a smooth ride.
Launching with a limited drop in a bold signal coral and white colorway, the adizero adios Pro is available via the adidas app. Runners can register today to enter the draw and be in with the chance to purchase the footwear on June 30th.

In fact, like a marathon runner, it was instance-after-instance of opting to do things the right way; rather than the easy way.
To form the basis of a new generation of fast, adidas went back to a collaborator of more than 20 years – Yoshitori Omori.
Omori-San’s name will be a familiar one to runners. With an all-new shape for the shoe secured, adidas then went about testing out technologies that would help runners be at their fastest and most efficient over 26.2 miles.
Another exercise in doing things ‘right’, the midsole of the adizero Pro introduces LIGHTSTRIKE for the first time on a running shoe.
First debuted on the NXTLVL Basketball shoe in 2018, LIGHTSTRIKE combines energy return and stability into one of the lightest TPU foams on the market for a ride that runners will appreciate across the full distance.
Sandwiched between the LIGHSTRIKE and the sockliner is an all-new CARBITEX Carbon plate. Having been a feature of adidas shoes since the 1980’s, the newly-commissioned CARBITEX plate delivers flexibility at touchdown and a snappy toe-off for maximum propulsion and an economically guided stride.
Finishing off the new features is CELERMESH: adidas’ thinnest mesh ever, which completely locks down the foot for a fast feeling with no distractions by engineering an internal support structure within the mesh itself for lightweight lockdown.
To complete the package, the iconic BOOST cushioning takes its spot in the heel to give a plush element of comfort that retains all its qualities independent of temperature, and best-in-class Continential rubber on the outsole for outstanding grip.
